Geography
The Cherokee indians live in large areas such as Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Virginia and west Virginia . Before the settlers came to North America they lived in the Blue Ridge Mountains area. But once the Settlers came they were forced out of their home lands during the Trail of tears. The Trail of Tears was a movement started by the settlers that came to the new world and wanted land and control over everything. They wanted to drive the Native Americans out of the land , so they could have it for their own. Once this happened they had to relocate , they ended up relocating to Oklahoma , North Carolina and Georgia. They had always lived near the mountains, valleys, rivers and lakes. This was good because everything they needed and they had all the resources they needed close by. They have trees, water, foods, and were able to hunt. They were able to build their own shelters , cook their own food and had everything else they needed to survive.
They would build their homes out of river cane , plaster and thatched roofs. The houses were also very warm and strong almost like a log cabin.
